• Schedule: PRN , 0.1 FTE , 12 Hour Day Shift, 7am-7pm

About the Surgical II Unit:  

We are seeking a registered nurse to join our te am at New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s Surgical II unit. The Surgical II unit specializes in post-operative care, catering to patients recovering from procedures such as vascular, spine, and chest tube surgeries, and those with external fixators and multi-system traumas. Unlike a typical Medical-Surgical unit, Surgical II primarily focuses on post-operative care, requiring specialized knowledge and skills. The team comprises experienced nurses who are dedicated team players, ensuring thorough patient care while fostering a supportive environment .  

• Associate degree in nursing  

• Current valid North Carolina Nursing License or Multi-State/Compact  

• Specialized knowledge and experience in post-operative care  

• Strong interpersonal skills for fostering a supportive work environment  

• One-year relevant experience, preferred

If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. To be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.  

• Assessing patients' conditions and health needs.  

• Provide specialized post-operative care to patients  

• Administering medications and treatments prescribed by physicians.  

• Monitoring and recording patients' vital signs and medical information.  

• Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.  

• Educating patients and their families about medical conditions, treatments, and preventive care measures.  

• Foster a supportive environment and teamwork among colleagues.
