The role of the Bus Monitor is to ensure the safety of children in transit, make their trips to and from day care pleasant, and facilitate communication between parents and programs. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and reports to the Program Director. Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Ensure the care, safety, and well-being of children in the group; Ride with children daily to and from day care and/or school, ensuring children are secured in car seats or seat belts when applicable; Maintain a written bus route, updating for changes and keeping a current copy on file with the Program Director; Manage car seats: inventory, cleaning, and maintenance; Ensure each child is accounted for, with emergency and release permission forms on board; Report issues with driver, equipment, children, or parents to the Program Director; Maintain confidentiality per CDCC Confidentiality Policy; Ensure children enter and exit the bus safely and are released to approved adults; Report signs of abuse or neglect to the Program Director; Conduct bus evacuation drills at least twice annually; Participate in required training (CPR, First Aid, OSHA, etc.); Provide an inclusive program for all children and families; Attend staff meetings and ongoing training; Complete all required certifications; Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor. Qualifications: Experience working with school-aged children; Effective communication skills in English and Spanish; Strong interpersonal skills; Qualifications per EEC regulations; Completion of CORI, SORI, and fingerprint scan as per Department of Early Education and Care regulations.
