SCHWEITZER MOUNTAIN RESORT JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE/DEPARTMENT: Host or Hostess / Crows Bench
POSITION TYPE: Seasonal - Part time
STARTING PAY: $13
SUPERVISORY: NO
SUPERVISED BY: Crow's Bench FOH Manager/Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY: Begin the experience of the Crows Bench for each guest with an incredible first impression. Greet and seat each party, politely answer the phone and take reservations and control overall flow of service. Previous experience required and must have reliable transportation and flexible schedule.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Professionally and calmly maintain steady, even flow of seating.
- Make detailed guest reservations at the Crow's Bench in accordance with guidelines.
- Responsible to greet all guests and respond appropriately to requests and special needs.
- Give guests approximate wait times and offer a seat at the bar when available.
- Seat guests with consideration of reservations, guest preference, servers' workload, restaurant capacity and ability.
- Hand out menus to guest and bring highchairs for young guests.
- Quickly and accurately inform servers of where guests have been seated and relay any special requests.
- Thank guests for dining upon leaving and invite them to return.
- Perform other tasks to assist in the smooth operation of the restaurant to assure guest satisfaction.
- Respond to guest comments and complaints and assure them you are personally going to see they get a response if necessary, then follow up with supervisor or manager.
- May help with bus person responsibilities on occasion and is expected to provide "staff presence" in the dining room.
- Must be punctual.
- Must have clean appearance according to Crow's Bench dress code.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Must have extensive knowledge of Schweitzer Mountain Resort facilities and activities. Responsibilities are listed as guidelines and are not limited to these items.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SKILLS: Exceptional customer service skills
EDUCATION: English reading, writing and communication, basic math
EXPERIENCE: 4-6 months of job-specific work experience is required.
LICENSE NEEDED: None
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: - Combined standing and walking position for up to 8 hours per shift.
- Will get breaks as available.
- Required to lift up to 25lbs occasionally.
- Will bend, squat, kneel, climb, twist, and reach above shoulder level on a frequent basis
- Will use hands for grasping and fine manipulation.
- Worksite is 95% inside. All sensory skills needed.
MACHINES/TOOLS OPERATED: POS, telephone, dishwasher
JUDGMENT/MENTAL COMPLEXITY: Moderate to high
REVIEW SCHEDULE: This position and the person filling it will be evaluated once a season.
