As a Heavy Truck Mechanic focused on vacuum trucks, you will inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines and vacuum truck systems, including high-powered pumps, hydraulics, and PTO (power take-off) configurations. This role is crucial to maintaining the reliability of our fleet and meeting strict industry and environmental standards. Applicants should have experience with diesel heavy equipment repair so they can determine what parts and tools are necessary for repairs. This position will typically occur mid-morning to late afternoon but will require the employee to be flexible depending on issues that arise, i.e., emergency, nights, weekends, etc. 

Heavy Truck Mechanic Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on vacuum trucks and related equipment
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Service and repair vacuum pumps, blowers, tanks, valves, and hoses
• Conduct DOT inspections and maintain compliance records
• Perform preventative maintenance on diesel engines and truck chassis
• Maintain accurate logs, work orders, and part inventories
• Maintain a clean and safe work area

Heavy Equipment Mechanic Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Post-secondary certificate or degree in engineering OR training as a mechanic (a plus)
• 2 to 5 years of experience with diesel/heavy equipment repair
• Welding experience (a plus)
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
• Must have own tools
