Qualifications/Specifications
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
- Licensure/Certification: CPA license with an active permit to practice preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of five years healthcare financial management experience required and hospital experience is preferred.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact and communicate in English, both orally and written, with others in a professional, collaborative manner, good communication skills and ability to effectively supervise and motivate employees.
- Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Computer literate, Excel spreadsheet experience, Word processing, 10-key adding machine.
- Essential Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time, ability to do computer entry for long periods of time.
- Essential Cognitive Abilities: Individual must have ability to read, write and comprehend instructions and business problems in technical business/accounting language; able to perform calculations and accounting problems rapidly.
- Essential Sensory Requirements: Must have corrected hearing and vision within a normal range.
- Exposure to Hazards: This position is not constantly exposed to airborne or blood borne pathogens or radiological or chemical hazards, other than those identified in the MSDS as common to a business office setting. However, upon entry into clinical areas, or in meeting with patients or their families, something that occurs regularly, this position may be exposed to various infectious diseases or other toxins.
- Other: Understands the mission and vision of the hospital. Operates within the concept of patient focused care. Evolves into an effective team member. Must adhere to dress code; good grooming and personal hygiene habits; and strict adherence to attendance policies. Maintains knowledge of and conforms to hospital policies and procedures.
Primary Duties
- Develops and monitors compliance with accounting/finance policies and procedures
- Reviews and presents monthly financial reports
- Maintains all accounting, financial, and general business records in a secure, confidential manner in compliance with GAAP, governing laws, and rules from regulatory agencies
- Maintains the cost accounting and decision support computer system
- Prepares financial analyses as requested by management
- Assists in reviewing and analyzing proposed managed care contracts
- Assures that the Accounting Department remains within Corporate SOX compliance guidelines.
- Develops internal control procedures and monitors for compliance
- Works with external auditors and consultants in a professional, cooperative manner
- Assists the Chief Executive Officer and Regional CFO with the annual budget and other financial management duties
- Assists with the annual Medicare cost report and other functions as requested
- Prepares and manages timely filing of Annual OSHPD Disclosure, and Quarterly Financial Report as well as Quarterly Utilization Report with coordination with HIM Department.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Supervises, directs and plans the operation of the Accounting Department
- Operates the Accounting, Purchasing, and Business Office Departments within budget
- Responds to issues of harassment and discrimination per company policy
- Completes employee evaluation(s) in a timely manner per company policy
- Prepares and Manages a Daily Cash liquidity report and shares with appropriate parties.
- Performs a monthly Balance Sheet Audit and makes appropriate arrangements to have all the items have adequate and accurate supporting documents
- Supports Business Development with pro forma preparation and forecast of new service lines and equipment
- Creates and Leads an active purchasing committee
- Lead financial portion of MOR and board presentations
